CREATING A COMPELLING FUTURE

CREATING A COMPELLING FUTURE

What kind of future would you like to Create? Do you have a plan? a goal? a vision? a Things To Do List? If you don’t, you’re shortchanging yourself. A Things To Do list will pinpoint those activities and achievements that mean the most to you. Life doesn’t last forever. If you don’t prioritize your time, you might miss out on something important! Your Future becomes your Past very quickly. Please consider making that list today.   Create your list and define your future: 1. Have different types of items within your list. You might include a few physical challenges, like running a marathon. You might have a few adventures, like scuba diving on the barrier reef or hang gliding. It might be fun to include a few intellectual and travel items. Maybe you’ve always want to learn how to play the banjo.   2. Keep it meaningful. Do you really want to spend six months and $100,000 climbing Mount Everest? Some things are impressive to others, but might not be meaningful to you. Avoid choosing items just to impress others. Just impress yourself, after all it is your future we are creating.   3. Keep the list short. You don’t have time to do everything that sounds appealing. Better yet, make a long list but always have a top 10 list. The top 10 can change over time, but always prioritize. The most important items on your  list will matter more than the rest of the list combined.   4. Have one item you can do with your currently available time and resources. It might be to go...
What’s up with all these Crazy #Hashtags?

What’s up with all these Crazy #Hashtags?

Hey Guys, This is something that I’ve wondered about for a while, so I thought I’d do a little research on the subject and put it out here for you. As a Baby Boomer myself I’m not always quick to grasp the latest trends. To be honest with you, I don’t understand half of the things I see going on in the world. I feel like most of the world is trippin’ and creating their own reality anyway. I guess we all tend to do that, don’t we? I’m just trying to make sure that my reality jives with the majority of people I’m trying to reach.   I’m seeing these #Hastags everywhere. I began to wonder, do they make a difference in articles, posts or tweets that you want the world to see? I didn’t have an answer. So, I spent some time doing a little research that I am glad to share with you here. Before we get too serious about life though, let’s watch this little video to put a smile on your face: “#Hashtag” with Jimmy Fallon & Justin Timberlake”   Are you smiling yet?   OK, this is what I found out about #Hashtags   Hashtags seemed to have originated with Twitter so we’ll start with something directly from the Twitter Help Center. From Twitter Help Center: Definition: The # symbol, called a hashtag, is used to mark keywords or topics in a Tweet. It was created organically by Twitter users as a way to categorize messages. Using hashtags to categorize Tweets by keyword: • People use the hashtag symbol # before a relevant...
HOW CAN I SPEED UP MY BLOGGING?

HOW CAN I SPEED UP MY BLOGGING?

Don’t get hung up on the headline. Write it last and use this. If you spend more than 1 minute trying to word a sentence spit your idea out, and move on. Come back to it later. “Write drunk, edit sober” as Ernest Hemingway would say. Leave formatting until the end. Plan out your posts then connect the dots: Intro (goal is to grab readers attention, explain what they will learn) Point #1 (a sentence of what you want to cover or convey) Point #2 (a sentence of what you want to cover or convey) Point #3… etc. (a sentence of what you want to cover or convey) Conclusion (wrap everything up) Call To Action (What should readers do...

A Pot to Piss in? Something fun for you today…Enjoy!

I’ve posted this before, but it’s been awhile so I thought I’d put it out here again. Sometimes you wonder where these old phrases came from…Well wonder no more. A very interesting History lesson They used to use urine to tan animal skins, so families used to all pee in a pot & then once a day it was taken & Sold to the tannery, if you had to do this to survive you were “Piss Poor” But worse than that were the really poor folk who couldn’t even afford to buy a pot……they “didn’t have a pot to piss in” & were the lowest of the low.   Here are some facts about the 1500s: The next time you are washing your hands and complain because the water temperature isn’t just how you like it, think about how things used to be. Most people got married in June because they took their yearly bath in May, and they still smelled pretty good by June. However, since they were starting to smell a little funky. Brides carried a bouquet of flowers to hide the body odor. Hence the custom today of carrying a bouquet when getting Married. Baths consisted of a big tub filled with hot water. The man of the house had the privilege of the nice clean water, then all the other sons and men, then the women and finally the children. Last of all the babies. By then the water was so dirty you could actually lose someone in it. Hence the saying, “Don’t throw the baby out with the Bath water!” Houses had thatched roofs-thick...

Maximize your Opportunity with limited Time

Maximize your Opportunity with limited Time   That’s the quandary of it all isn’t it? How do you maximize your efforts when you have a limited amount of time?   Most of us begin our home based journey while we are still working a full time job. That’s the dilemma I find myself in. I’m up at 4:30 a.m. I work a 40 hr. week, minimum. I drive an hour each way, so that’s another 10 hrs. a week. By the time I get home it’s 5:p.m. Many of my contacts are in the eastern time zone (2-3 hours later) so I have a small window of opportunity to connect with my prospects before I’m intruding on their evening. I don’t have time for a power nap to re-charge my batteries.   I need to make it happen NOW!   I’m speaking in the first person here, because I know many of you are in similar situations and you can relate to what I’m saying. With limited time to build your future, you definitely find ways to multitask. I have some good audio books and personal development on my Ipod so I can absorb it while I’m working. I make calls on my drive home as long as traffic is not too crazy. When I stop for gas or food I always leave a pull tab or flier behind, promoting my business. Entrepreneurs always find a way to maximize their efforts.   That’s because they have Big Reasons WHY. Their WHY is what keeps them motivated and always trying to find a way to streamline the things they do...

Success is Contagious!

That’s right, Success is Contagious…   It’s defined as: “Capable of being spread to others, and causing other people to feel or act in a similar way.”   With that being said, you may want to exercise a little caution. Failure and Negativity is also contagious and will zap your energy and motivation like a cancer. Stay Close to Successful people   I’m just going to keep it simple today and say be aware of the people you are spending time with.   You will become like the five closest friends you hang out with and believe it or not your income will come to match those friends too. Now, I’m not telling you to kick all your old beer drinking buddies to the curb. I’m just giving you some sound advice to be aware of who and what has the most influence on you.   All Human Beings want to expand and become more. We have a burning desire to live life to our fullest potential.   If you don’t agree with that statement, then I’m afraid you’ve let complacency take control of your life. Please let this video serve as the Slap in the Head required to get you back on track!   The true meat and potatoes of this blog is contained in this video. Don’t do yourself a disservice by skipping over it!     Darik’s Success Story   Sometimes the most simple of things result in the most dramatic life changing events.   I guarantee that you will not be able to watch this video without capturing the Enthusiasm...
